| Overview | Situated in Fuefuki city, Yamanashi prefecture, this historically well-known burial mound had not been explored in detail. Its excavation is undergoing as an archaeological training for graduate and undergraduate students. The exploratory excavation surveys, which confirmed that this mound was keyhole-shaped with quadrangular rear, built before the beginning of the 4th century, and that it is one of the oldest burial mounds in Yamanashi Prefecture. It is necessary to reconsider the formation process of the Kofun period in the region. |
