| Overview |
Observation of cut marks and fracture of faunal remains excavated from Jomon Period sites will be conducted, and faunal butchering techniques will be discussed based on analysis of both types of traces. The purpose of butchering will be investigated based on the appearance trend of cut marks in part and location. We will also estimate the stone tools and movements used in butchering based on the shapes of the traces. The state of the bones at the time of crushing will be clarified based on the faunal remain of the shapes of the fracture. |
